ERW carbon steel pipe, electric resistance welding

As ERW Producer, a modern continuous forming Process with the highest technology is used to produce longitudinal Electric Resistence Welded (High Frequency) steel pipe for oil, gas, water, solids and semisolids transmission. Procarsa has great flexibility to meet the specifications needed by our customers.

In manufacturing welded steel pipes, a continuous forming process is used by the Electric Resistance Welding (ERW) method.

To fulfill the compromise in offer trusty products, it has been established rigorous test and inspections through all the productive process. Raw materials used by Procarsa for piping is hot rolled steel coil.
In the first stage, the HRC goes into the cutter line (slitter) to shear its edges, in order to get the desired width for development of pipe and to have a clean side cut.

Next the hot rolled coil is introduced to the continuous forming unit where pipe is cold formed by rolling mills in various orderly steps, then the welding unit applies a current of 600 kw to it.

In order to restitute ductility properties to the heat affected zone during welding, a heat treatment is applied in temperatures ranging from 870º C (1600 ºF) as minimum.

Subsecuent steps gives piping, Sizing, Straighthening, cutting in its extremes for square and beveling, as well as a Hydrostatic test before final inspection.

Quality control starts reception of raw material, inspected visually and under laboratory and metallurgy test to verify dimentional accuracy and achievement of established norms.

Inmediately after welding during the forming process pipes are inspected a hundred per cent using ultrasonic equipment and heat treatment controlled by pyrometers and information is recorded by plotters.

After the pipe already formed is inspected visually and dimensionally, cuts are made in its ends to test flatten and verify material and welding.

The hydrostatic test is controlled by timers and pressure meters, then the whole piping productions is inspected by ultrasonic equipment to assure quality according to requirements established by international norms.

Active participation of Procarsa personnel in implementing a Quality Assurance System has led company products to a high level of competition all over the world.
